OUR STORY
Since I was a kid, I've always felt this strong urge to help other children who are in tough situations. It all started with a project I did in fourth grade called "Ford's Friends." It was a website where kids in hospitals could connect with penpals online. I've always hoped to bring that project to life someday. But it was during that time that my family sponsored a child from Uganda from the age of 4 to 15. Being part of his life brought us so much joy and pride. Making a positive impact on a child's life and giving them hope for a better future is an incredible feeling.
But last year, my focus shifted to a bigger issue—child exploitation. It all began with a simple Christmas request for clothes. When they arrived, they seemed too good to be true for the price. It wasn't until I shared where I got them with my classmates that I learned the truth—the brand used child labor to keep their prices low.
That discovery led me to research child labor and the global exploitation of children. It was shocking to see how many popular everyday products and brands turned a blind eye to these practices, all to save a dollar. It felt like the clothes we wore and the everyday things that surrounded us were, in fact, made from fear.
That's when I came up with the idea for Made Afraid. I knew I couldn't solve the whole problem, but if I could help just a few children escape that cycle of exploitation, it would be worth it. With my dad's help, we turned that idea into a reality—a brand with a message and a purpose.
Now, we're proud to launch Made Afraid, spreading the word and changing lives one garment at a time.
our sponsorship journey
Our sponsorship experience reaffirmed my belief in the importance of child sponsorship as a catalyst for positive change. It's not just about providing financial support; it's about forming genuine connections and fostering hope for a better future.
Through our sponsorship, I saw how access to basic necessities like nutritious meals, education, and healthcare can uplift a child and provide them with the tools they need to thrive. But beyond the tangible benefits, I also witnessed the intangible rewards of sponsorship—the joy of seeing our sponsored child grow, learn, and dream big.
As our sponsored child blossomed into a confident young individual, I also realized the ripple effect of our support. Not only did he benefit personally, but he also became a beacon of hope and inspiration for others in his community. His success became a testament to the power of opportunity and the importance of investing in the next generation.
What's even more remarkable is the ripple effect of our sponsorship. As our sponsored child grows and becomes self-sufficient, they'll have the chance to pass it on to other children in their community. By empowering them to become leaders and change-makers in their communities, we're not just changing one life but positively impacting many others for generations to come.
Made Afraid is not just a business but a movement with a unique approach to protecting and empowering children everywhere. Through our premium message apparel and accessories, we aim to provide tangible support to children in need.
Our mission is simple: to demonstrate that businesses can be a force for good, driving positive change in the world. Together, let's create a safer, kinder world for every child. Because every child deserves to live without fear…
Sincerely,
