our mission

  • Globally, an estimated 152 million children aged 5 to 17 are engaged in child labor.

  • 152 million is the same as the entire combined population of Denmark, Australia, Canada, and Germany.

  • Assuming a standard work week of 40 hours for 52 weeks a year, this amounts to approximately 316 million hours of child labor annually.

  • 316 million hours of child labor equates to a staggering 36,000 years of lost childhood.

  • In just one year!

  • Child sponsorship offers families the opportunity to avoid sending their children into forced labor, providing them with the chance to pursue an education. Additionally, it ensures access to basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical care for the sponsored child.

  • It offers them the stability of a loving family environment and access to education, ensuring they can reach their full potential. Additionally, your sponsorship contributes to the broader community by funding vocational programs that equip individuals with essential job skills for self-reliance.

  • Child sponsorship isn't just about making a donation—it's about making a real difference in a child's life and their community.

  • With your purchase, children living in poverty gain the opportunity to thrive and build a brighter future instead of falling into the vicious cycle of child labor. It's a practical, impactful way to change lives for the better.

  • We sell apparel and use the profits to sponsor children, aiming to break the cycle of child labor.

  • We operate with complete financial transparency.

  • You can see every child your purchase helps us sponsor and follow their journey.

A secure and affectionate household. A caring guardian and a familial environment. The opportunity to be raised alongside their natural siblings. Wholesome meals, expert medical care, attire, and playthings. An excellent educational experience. Emotional guidance. The chance to foster a meaningful connection.

Each child sponsorship costs $35 per month, a cost covered entirely by the profits generated from the sale of Made Afraid apparel. While we could increase the price of our clothes to raise more funds for sponsoring additional children, our goal extends beyond a mere financial contribution. We aim to offer high-quality nonprofit apparel not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness about the plight of children in need. By doing so, we hope to generate more sales and revenue, ultimately enabling us to sponsor more children and make a greater impact on their lives.

We maintain complete transparency with our sales and revenues, ensuring that our customers know exactly how their purchases contribute to our mission of sponsoring children in need.

At the end of each month, we use the profits from our sales to sponsor children, and their information is promptly added to our website. This transparency allows everyone to witness the immediate impact and benefit that sponsorship brings to these children's lives.

  • SOS Children’s Villages does not tolerate any form of child abuse, exploitation, neglect, or violation of a child’s privacy and rights. They work in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children.

Their Child Protection Policy focuses on four key action areas: awareness, prevention, reporting, and responding. They place special emphasis on awareness and prevention to safeguard children and improve the quality of the care they receive. In the case of a reported child safeguarding concern, it is taken seriously and addressed without delay. This means that:

They build the capacities of co-workers, children, young people, and families to recognize signs of abuse and how to prevent it.

They teach the use of techniques such as positive discipline.

They work to eliminate harmful cultural practices.

Any reported child safeguarding incident or concern is carefully assessed, and based on the results of the assessment, concrete actions are decided and put in place.

As the key stakeholders, children are also attending trainings to understand their rights to participate in the decisions that concern their lives and to be a stronger voice in safeguarding.

They comply with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation law, which went into effect in 2018.

WHAT ARE SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES’ POLICIES FOR FINANCIAL REPORTING AND TRANSPARENCY?
